| I flew this aircraft on a number of occasions during the final days of 209 Squadron at Seletar. Later, when I heard the squadron was folding, I wrote to Mr Bruce at the RAF museum suggesting that a Single be saved from the scrap men in Singapore. He answered that he thought it a good idea, and was taking steps. A while later I was visiting Henlow and stumbled upon 703 amongst the aircraft stored there. It was covered at that time in protective grease, but I noted that the mainwheels and the tailwheel were brand new. The engineers at Seletar had sent it on it's way in prime condition. I would dearly love to see her again, but it's a long way from Spain to Cosford. |
