| On 30-Apr-1975, during the evacuation of South Vietnam, a South Vietnamese Major was desperate to save himself and his family. He took off in this exact Bird Dog with his wife & five children and headed out to sea. Without sufficient fuel to return he managed to locate the USS Midway and dropped a hand-written note requesting the helicopters be moved from the landing deck. Incredibly he managed a perfect landing. Originally with the USAF as 51-4981 before transferring to South Vietnam. | |
