Became F-BBIN, then G-BHZA Aug 5, 1980. Registration cancelled Apr 3, 1989. Registered G-LFOR Dec 11, 2007. In 2013 was undergoing restoration in Malta and scheduled to be cancelled from UK register. There is some inconsistency, since the first civilian logbook that popped up after the war states 44-79580 but airframe S/N or C/N 11883. According the manufacturer records of Clyde Smith (Piper Cub), C/N 11883 belongs to 44-79587. Former F-BBIN, G-BHZA, present G-LFOR ) always carried C/N 11883 or S/N as used by the CAA, during its civil life . There are two possibilities: Perhaps 44-79580 was equipped with the frame of 44-79587 (C/N 11883) during or after the war. This was entered in the civil logbook as 44-79580 (C/N11883). Alternatively, 44-79580 could have been mistakenly entered by error as the S/N for the L4 carrying airframe S/N or C/N 11883. Joe Baugher 21/11/2013. | |

As far as we know the aircraft that is in Malta Aviation Museum is 11883 frame number 11711, which is BuNo 44-79587. It is true that it was sold as 44-79580 but it seems that the mistake was done back in the 50's when it was first registered in France |
