I flew in this aircraft - Stratocruiser - G-AKGM when returning from Lagos (Nigeria) in January 1959. The trip went from Lagos to Kano to Rome to Frankfurt to London (Heathrow) The flying time for the trip was 14 hours 10 minutes not counting re-fueling time, (according to my "Junior Jet Club Log Book which was completed by the Captian). I believe the plane was sold on by BOAC in March of 1959. I have a picture of the plane in Nigeria with "Nigerian Airways" livery. I assume this was part of BOAC. |
