I did most of my PPL training on DE with Glamorgan Flying Club at Rhoose, between 1970 and 1972. I loved it. I also flew G-AWMI which, I believe, is still flying at Rhoose. i remember how responsive it was to the "flaperons". When the flaps went down, the aiterons went down as well, giving a huge increase in lift, with a corresponding low airspeed for STOLs. Most of the time we never put the flaps down, landing at 70kts. Everything was done at 70kts come to think of it. Spinning and spin recovery was instantaneous with rudder input. The perfect aircraft for ab initios |
