My father, William E. Nichols, owned this plane (tail # N2724B) for a number of years. He kept it and flew it out of Love Field in Dallas, Texas. He had been a test pilot for Douglas Aircraft and a pilot for the U.S. Navy. He was in the railroad construction business when he owned the plane. It was stored and maintained at Brown's Aereo Service on the South side of Love Filed. He kept three engines for it and had the out of service engine completely overhauled and ready for it's rotation. My Dad had it painted in a dove grey and blue when he got it and maintained the plane beautifully. I started 'helping' him fly and being a 'co-pilot' for him when I was 12 or 13 years old. That would have been in 1960 or 1961. I have very fond memories of this aircraft and the times I spent in it. I would love to know more of its history since those times and if there it a current picture or pictures, I would enjoy seeing them. I would be happy to find and send any pictures I or my sister might have. Sincerely, Jack W. Nichols jnicholsdallas@sbcglobal.net 214-679-0690 |
