| I received my pilots license in this aircraft in 1970 and flew it around the Bay Area. The aircraft was based in San Jose, CA, at Reid-Hillview airport under my care while the owner, my father-in-law at the time, was in the Canary Islands, with Bendix Corp, supporting a space mission. The owner at the time was Roger Hober who, after returning from the Canaries, subsequently sold it to an organization that used it to deliver food and other provisions in, I believe, Texas. Roger had refurbished the plane before I became it's caretaker, with a new interior, airframe fabric, and paint. It was a great plane and I really enjoyed flying and maintaining it. I was a partner in another Tri-Pacer when moving here to Washington state as the Tri-Pacer is sorta a special aircraft for me. I was just wondering where 3711P(Papa) may be now. I have read NTSB reports that it was involved in accidents. Sad, unfortunate, I hope it is not out of commision entirely. |
