I beleieve the original operator of this A/C was the Georgia Crown and Cork Company. It was sold it to Dewey P. Kelly a former Eastern Captain and apartment developer from Atlanta. It was based out of Falcon Field at the time (early 1970's). At that time the plane had orange and gold stripes and a logo with a cross and a four-leaf clover on the tail. Kelly later moved to Hendersonville NC kept the plane at Winkler Aviation. It was susequently sold to a company in Clovis NM and later to a company in El Reno, OK. It's nice to see the plane looking so good and with a nicely updated panel. I will never forget coming into Asheville, NC (AVL) in this plane on a back-course localizer approach to minimums with Dewy at the controls he was an extrordinary pilot. |
