This aircraft was built as C-47A 42-92995 and delivered to USAAF on 3/27/44, and was assigned to the North African Wing of the Air Transport Command on 4/24/44. It returned to the USA on 8/20/45, and on 6/5/46 went to the Reconstruction Finance Corp. It was registered NC44587 on 11/6/46 with West Coast Airlines. In April 1962 it was leased to Pacific Western Airlines in Canada as CF-ONH, but returned to the US on 6/6/63 agin with West Coast As N44587. Then on 3/15/64 it was sold back to Pacific Western as CF-ONH. Unknown date it was bought by Air West and re-registered N44587. In January 1969 it was purchased by The Aerodyne Corp. of Renton, WA, who operated it until going out of business in May 1974 and it was derelict for a time before being purchased by Salair, Inc operating out of Seattle and Sacramento. Now owned by Desert Air Transport. |
