| As a young Airman, to Petty Officer Third Class, I maintained three aircraft at Fleet Tactical Support Squadron One, NAS Norfolk, VA from 1970 to 1972. Two Saber Liners, Buno 158282 and 158383, and then the VA-3B Buno 144865. Most of the crew were from the VQ community. The VA-3B arrived at VR-1 the spring of 1971, and was the first time I had ever maintained an aircraft like the Whale. It has a special place with me and will always be one of the worlds greatest and my favorite aircraft. I am pleased to see that it, now RACO 75 is still flying, although with a Civil Registry Number, it is good to see it again... | |
