This aircraft was originaly owned and operated by Airco NW based at Paine Field in Everett WA. It was an aerobatic version of the cessna 150. It was structurally re-inforced for more g-loading. Airco was an FBO owned by the late Clayton M Scott USN Ret. "Scotty" taugt aerobatics in the aircraft from 1971 until 1980 when he sold the FBO. During that period he performed annually at the Paine field Air Fair. N5958J had an approved call sign at Paine field of "Airco 7" In about 1973 The aircraft was fitted with a smoke system consisting of a 5 gallon oil tank behind the seats using a modified Holly fuel pump to supply the oil to modified exhaust stacks controlled by a rocker switch next to the throttle. This information is accurate because Scotty was my step father, and I helped design and install the smoke system. And yes we aquired an STC. |
