N75727 has the same tail number of my first 172N (1977), both of which were purchased new. The original was based at Frankfort (C-18), this one at Poplar Grove (C77). Ain't she pretty? The original aircraft was owned by my company, DaMac Inc which successfully sued the state of Illinois, RTA, et al in a class action whose aim was the elemination of motor vehicle fuel tax from AvGas. For those not in the know, that suit was successful and today there's no MVFT on Illinois AvGas. This action was at the urging of my late father-in-law, the circut judge (Raymond Sarnow) who handed down the original decision against the airlines in the 60's when they argued, unsuccessfully, against paying the tax. The tax stood for another 15+ years when he, urged me to pursue the case and right what he always considered a wrong. Stop in a C77 and enjoy lots of planes wwith their own special history. |
