| This unusual Piper PA-28-180 Cherokee 'Chief' N8430W built in 1965 is illustrated in the 'Images of Aviation" series 'Piper Aircraft', compiled by Rod Simpson, and published in 2000 by Tempus Publishing Ltd. On page 82 it is shown as a conversion to a taildragger. This is the first Cherokee that I have seen with such a conversion. It also has a large drooped wingtips conversion and now is called a Cherokee Chief, accounting for the Experimental Category classification. I learned to fly in a Cherokee 140 and have logged time in a conventional Cherokee 180. Excellent flying aircraft! |
