| I owned N9886 C182 for several years in the 1970s. I was tied down in Durango LaPlata Airport Colorado. I learned to fly in it and later I flew it for business and CAP SAR. It was a basic but exceptional minimal issues aircraft and great mtn flyer. It had long range tanks and in the Mtns was flown with half tanks. I also flew it to San Diego to watch the Broncos play as tickets in Denver were unatainable. I flew it down into the Grand Canyon - then allowed. I moved and sold. The aircraft, I was told by CAP, was sold to FBO and rented to several hunters who in the area of Grand Junction, CO overloaded the work horse and crashed on take-off with dire results for all. I was asked by CAP if it had performance issues. My answer NONE, it was a reliable simple airplane perfect for Colorado flying. |
