| I purchased this aircraft from a cardiologist named Barry Hopkins in 1985 who used it to fly from Perth to Albany for his weekly clinic. I named the charter company Star Charter operated the plane from Perth Airport for some 12 years and 2000 hours without incident. The plane was a joy to fly, being light and nimble in the controls, mainly due to the magnesium elevator skins. The main issue with the plane was surface corrosion which I finally got on top of by stripping and repainting. I gave the plane a white base with 3 blue stripes that ran full length and splayed up the tail. I last saw the airplane in Paraburdoo around 2002 where it was looking a bit unloved. The plane had a balance issue because of its short nose, generally requiring 40kg of weight in the nose with a full load of passengers. The small rear door was also awkward for passengers to get in and out of. | |
