After retirement from active service, this Comet C.2 was allocated RAF Maintenance serial 7971M and joined the RAF Museum Reserve Collection at Henlow. In June 1987 it was transported to RAF Lyneham, Wiltshire and, after restoration, was the gate guardian there until 2013. The forward fuselage has been preserved and is now with the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection at Old Sarum, Wiltshire. |
