This unsold Comet 4C was the second prototype Nimrod MR.1 and was fitted with Rolls-Royce Spey Mk.250 turbofans. It made the type’s maiden flight on May 23, 1967 and remained as a Hawker Siddeley development aircraft until 1975. It was then transferred to the Royal Radar Establishment (RRE) at Pershore being eventually withdrawn from use in 1982. The cockpit remains in private ownership. |
