  • Q59 Airport - Fremont airport,Calif. which closed in 1986 was a very busy little airport,so it is surprising that it lasted only about 20 years. This picture was taken around 1980. View is SE.Last non tower airport in the SF Bay Area as Sky Sailing was a private airport - by S B J by S B J
  • Q59 Airport - Fremont airport,Calif. Old runway 31L,31R was a nice dirt runway. This was also the starting point for many (15 years worth) of my flying adventures! They sure were good years to be in general aviation.Would not trade them for anything! - by S B J by S B J
  • Q59 Airport - If you looked in the Pilots Guide in 1978 for information on Fremont, this is what you would see.I do take issue with lighted runway.Never saw them. - by S B J by S B J
  • Q59 Airport - Fremont airport (Calif) at closure in 1986. Strange twist-both planes seen in pic, ( once owned both ) they ended their flying days in Florida not far apart. The 150 due to storm damage & the 172 crashed into the water (9-23-12) off the Florida coast. - by S B J by S B J
