This venerable airport is in danger of being closed down, owing to complaints from nearby homeowners. But guess who was here first?

How cool is this? At Newark Academy, Livingston, NJ, the football field doubles as a helipad.

This is the passenger terminal; general aviation is located at the other end. As you can see, security is tight at this little airport.

This heliport serves the emergency and trauma center of Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morris County, NJ.

Welcome to the main terminal... or what's left of it.

Here is the centerpiece of the "wetlands mitigation area," in place to compensate for the woodlands cut down for a nearby strip mall. Ironically, according to Google Earth, this pond is the exact location of the geographic coordinates given here.

This was once the main turf runway, looking east. The section in the background is now a wetlands mitigation area, to compensate for the ecological footprint of the brand-new strip mall nearby.

Add this little private airport to the list of disappearing airfields in New Jersey. To the right of this bucolic scene is a huge strip mall.

The main runway of Hanover Airport still exists, with the airport's name still legible, along with large yellow X's painted when the airport was closed in the late 1980s.

The lettering of Hanover Airport's name is still visible on the roof of its erstwhile corprate headquarters. This building appears prominently on old postcards of the airport, before it closed in the late 1980s.

Once a vibrant, albeit challenging little field, Hanover Airport has been deserted since the late 1980s.
