Q59 Airport - Fremont,Ca closed in 1986.Most pilots who flew out of Fremont and there were many, will find this picture a familiar sight. It is on the 45 entry to runway 31 and over the landfill. Over the dumps, was an often heard unicom call.View is to the east.

  • Q59 Airport - Fremont airport in the SF Bay Area when it was at its peak, was closed in May of 1986. Was a no frills grass roots airport that didnt even have runway lights, only relectors. They worked just fine but planes without lights, then it could be interesting. - by S B J by S B J
  • Q59 Airport - Fremont airport in Calif. which was closed in 1986, for 2-3 days a year, went from land based planes to seaplanes. This is one such time. My logbook shows two floods in 1983 (one in Feb and March)which is the only time that happened. - by S B J by S B J
