This Aviation Specialties B-17G Flying Fortress crashed while working at low altitude fighting a range fire in Diamond Valley, near Elko, Nevada on July 12, 1973. The aircraft, tanker #54, was destroyed and, sadly, both the pilot and co-pilot were killed.
