N43961 - On dry lake outside of Death Valley,Ca. Dry lakes are very  nice to land on but be careful for water under the surface or your entire day ( 172s on 5-29-64 & 7-4-75 & C150 on 10-3-71) could be ruined ! Almost happened to me on one- almost- dry lake .

N5248Z - 48Z at the Cottonwood Landing airport right next to the Colorado river. This super neat airport is now closed. Again the environmentalists (National Recreation Area) won out over us pilots!

N4058J @ Q59 - 58J at the Fremont airport (Calif) in 1984.The Beech 18 in the back was the largest plane to fly in and out of Fremont in the 15 years I was there.Fremont had a narrow (and some felt rough) runway.

N9078E - 78E after landing on private strip (now closed due in part to a fatal C150 crash) in central calif. around 1994. There were many strips like this in the Mt Hamilton area,most of which are now closed.This strip is now part of Henry Coe state park.
