159507 in 1991 belonged to VP-4. It was flown by a VP-91 The Black Cats aircrew Combat Aircrew 15 during operation Desert Storm. The aircraft was detached in Masirah Oman she flew a sortie on 12 February 1991 and CAC 15 assisted in the targeting and destruction of 2 Iraqi gunboats off Faylaka Island in the harbor of Kuwait City. CAC 15 called in 2 A-6 Bombers from the USS Ranger and flew formation with them. Later that day CAC 15 Identified a 3rd Gunboat but was told it was Saudia, however it was Iraqi as CAC 15 had said. This Gunboat was destroyed by coalition forces later that day. VP-91 was the only reserve USN aircrew fixed wing to engage the enemy directly. The Back Cats.
