I was assigned as the first crew chief on this aircraft when it was received from the factory new at Lockbourne AFB, Ohio in 1963. The aircraft was assigned to Grissom sometime after 1968. During my tenture with this aircraft at Lockbourne it was an outstanding aircraft and I received a "Flag Ship of the Fleet Award" with it. Its sad to know it was lost along with 19 fatalities.
