This A-10A Thunderbolt II was operating with the 509th Tactical Fighter Squadron/10th Tactical Fighter Wing based at RAF Alconbury when it crashed near Stukeley, Huntingdonshire after failing to gain height after a “touch and go” landing at RAF Alconbury. The pilot safely ejected and the airframe was converted to a GA-10A for display at the base.
