I flew as a camera operator in G-AHXW for Precise Surveys Limited. She was fitted with internal long range fuel tanks and was beautifully flown by Malcolm Payne, a well known pilot at Staverton, with Tom O'Byrne displaying his navigation skills. She was fitted with a Swiss made Wild Camera which was superior to anything available in the UK at the time - being vacuum operated to ensure that the film could be used for mapping and 3D photo-grammetric work.
G-AHXW can be proud of her work, being responsible for the initial survey images for many motorways including the M5, M42, M66, projects including Seaforth Docks at Liverpool, the Needham Market/Stowmarket By-Pass and Skipton Reservoir as well as the new town of Cumbernauld in Scotland.
Long may she continue to cast her classic shadow over the UK!
