The registration for this Albatross improperly identifies it as a model SA-16B. The SA-16B designation signifies the pre-1962 long-wing Albatross conversion used by the USAF. After 1962, it was re-designated as a model HU-16B. This aircraft was built originally from the "get-go" as a long-wing aircraft, not as a conversion, and for Germany under a US Navy procurement contract as a long-wing model UF-2 with USN Bureau of Aeronautic serial or "Bu." no. 146426 and its OEM Grumman civilian construction no. is G-444.

Built for the German Navy. Bore USN serial number for administrative purposes. 146426 (c/n G-444). Bore marks SC+101, RE+501, and 60+04. Later to the Civil Register as N13048, then N695S.
