On December 29, 1951 a Curtiss C46A (Serial #30466, N 3944C) crashed on a large hill about a mile and half from a farm in the Town of Napoli, NY, USA. Of the 40 people on board, 26 were killed and 14 survived. No one heard the crash, and for two nights and days, a search was performed throughout western Pennsylvania and New York, Canada, and Lakes Erie and Ontario. No one knew where the plane disappeared.
Two days later, one of the passengers walked off the small mountain, in freezing rain and snow, and found a farmhouse from where he called for help.
