I purchased and took delivery of N40JK when the N number was 669HC in June 1980 from a dealer at Tulsa, Oklahoma. The aircraft was a 1978 model Golden Eagle III with approximately 289 hrs TT. The aircraft was titled in Alison Aircraft Corporation an affiliate to John Carey Oil Company, Sangamo Drilling and Exploration Corporation and based In Des Moines, Iowa. At purchase N669HC was determined to be an "Ugly Duckling" with over all white paint trimmed in Blue and Gold. She had just come off the loaner program of Cessna Aircraft due to the "Conquest" grounding problem. The Ugly Duckling problem was overcome by repainting the aircraft Castle Tan, trimed in Midnight Blue, Burgundy and White. The interior was changed from blue velour to Camel leather and wool, trimmed with Burgundy leaher. She was maintained by Duncan Aviation at Lincoln, Nebraska on a progressive basis. N40JK was professionally flown and regular passengers were Senator's Robert Dole and Charles Grassley. She was sold April 1987 with approximately 2000 hrs TT. Her fate was sealed on January 13, 1992. See NTSB report. I only have an Ugly Duckling photo as N669HC, but would appreciate a photo as N40JK if available.
