I first flew in this aircraft in 1977. It was owned by BLM and was registered as N49OAS. I worked on a fire crew for BLM, and they used it to shuttle us and other fire fighting crews to airstrips close to fires in Alaska. It was the first light twin I ever flew in. As the years passed, I became a Smokejumper, and parachuted out of this plane many times - fire jumps, training jumps and research and development jumps. Kevin Stalder was one of the best of our many excellent Smokejumper pilots in this plane and spearheaded the change in N number to N49SJ, (N 49 Smoke Jumper). Thanks, Kevin. It is a most excellent airplane!!!
