This aircraft conducted an emergency landing into Detroit International while in route from SFO to BOS.

Aircraft landed after the pilot started an emergency decent from Mid 40's by lowering gear. Decent start to landing time about 12-13 minutes.

Someone in the coach section smelled smoke.

All emergency vehicles were out, we did not use the slides
