Built 1942 by DH Australia & delivered to the RAAF as A17-579. Allocated to 11 EFTS Benalla & retained post-war. Registered VH-GME to McKenzie Flying School, Moorabbin, 29 Apr 58 but not collected by purchaser until Sep 58. Purchased in the '60s by Goulburn Valley Aero Club & re-registered VH-GVA(2). Used for wing-walking in the late '80s-early '90s. Flown solo England-Australia 1996 & set several FAI World Records en route. (Acknowledgement Phil Vabre Airliners.net)

On 27th January 2011, this aircraft was destroyed when it clipped trees on takeoff from Maryborough Airport (YMBU), Victoria, Australia, crashed and caught fire, starting a small grass fire. Tragically, the pilot and his passenger, perished in the accident.
