The crash occurred on May 25th, 1986, not August. The crew of the Meteor were killed, but not both aircraft - I believe the crew in the Vampire survived, although the pilot was severely injured. My brother was the passenger in the Meteor.

1972 saw the formation of the Vintage Pair display team by the Central Flying School with this Meteor and Vampire T.11 XH 304.

Sadly, the Vampire collided in mid-air wth the Meteor during a display at the Mildenhall Air Fete on August 21, 1986. The aircraft were written off and the occupants of both aircraft were killed.
