February 7th, 1994 aircraft 162340 from HSL 44 Det 7 had a compressor stall during transition to forward flight from takeoff of USS Steven W. Groves. Aircraft recoverdb forward flight only feet from crashing into the Carribean waters. Cdr Hughes and LT Race received Navy air medals, AW2 Goforth was the aircrewman in back.
