This aircraft was delivered to the USAAF on 3/5/44 as C-47A 42-92838 and assigned to the 8th AF in Europe on 4/18/44. Two days later transferred to 9th AF in preparation for D-Day. Returned to USA 8/17/45 and two months later to Reconstruction Finance Corp. Purchased by Kerr McGee Oil Company and operated by them from 1945 to 1977 as NC65162. Registration cancelled and given to State Fair in Oklahoma City and until about 2008 it was mounted on stilts at the fair ground. Now displayed at the Oklahoma City, Will Rogers Airport, in front of an aviation maintenance school.
