This aircraft was built as C-47A 42-24294, and delivered to USAAF on 8/30/1943. It remained in the USA during WWII, and on 1/15/46 it was placed in storage. On 6/19/46, the Reconstruction Finance Corp. took possession of the aircraft. It was late sold and registered as NC68358 with Air Carrier Supply Corp., later being operated by Hughes Tool Co. On 12/5/47 the aircraft went to Brazil with VARIG as PP-VBF. WFU during Sept. 1971 and preserved in Parque do Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro. Due to much damage by vandals, from January to March 1980 the aircraft was at Rio-Galeao for restoration before returning for display.
