The January 1960 National Geographic, chronicles the Western Asia adventure of N2343C by Lowell and Tay Thomas Jr. The former Shah of Iran was impressed by “Charlie’s” performance. Gas in Kandahar and Charlie dismantled and shipped home in a PanAm Clipper with Irish racehorses at the end of a 45,000-mile trip. Great reading!

Isn't this the same aircraft that Lowell Thomas Jr. and his wife flew around the African continent in the mid '50s? There's a lot of history associated with this aircraft.
