9NEWS has also learned the plane did touch the highway. No vehicles were hit. There is some visible wing damage.
9NEWS has learned three people were on board. They were not injured.
The plane was on the way from Arizona to South Dakota. We understand the plane had stopped at the Centennial Airport to refuel.
It is unclear why the plane had to make the landing.
The NTSB will be investigating.
The only closure is the ramp from Peoria onto westbound E-470.
