From Ben Kristy, Aviation Curator, National Museum of the Marine Corps January 8th 2013.

The A-2 does not have a registration code (at least a current one) - it was
acquired in trade from noted American aircraft collector/operator Cole Palen
some years ago. At that time it was configured as a "Triad" - i.e. with
fixed wheeled gear. As we needed to depict the A-2 in Cuba in 1913, we
removed the gear and built the float ourselves. Palen built the aircraft
from plans and I believe that he had registered the aircraft with the FAA,
but that is no longer an active registration.
