Q59, Fremont airport ,Calif. Picture is two years after closure. For such an active airport it was remarkable safe. There was several accidents, but only one was a fatal (8-8-75) and was due to a mechanical issue.Fremont had a lot of good pilots and instructors., photo by S B J

Q59, Fremont airport,Calif. Old runway 31L,31R was a nice dirt runway. This was also the starting point for many (15 years worth) of my flying adventures! They sure were good years to be in general aviation.Would not trade them for anything!, photo by S B J

Q59, Fremont airport,Calif. which closed in 1986 was a very busy little airport,so it is surprising that it lasted only about 20 years. This picture was taken around 1980. View is SE.Last non tower airport in the SF Bay Area as Sky Sailing was a private airport, photo by S B J

Q59, From time to time, Fremont airport would go from a land base to a seaplane based airport. Unfortunately for Cub 30472, this was one of those times. The Fremont flight school is seen behind 472. They did not offer any floatplane instruction., photo by S B J

Q59, Fremont airport (Calif) at closure in 1986. Strange twist-both planes seen in pic, ( once owned both ) they ended their flying days in Florida not far apart. The 150 due to storm damage & the 172 crashed into the water (9-23-12) off the Florida coast., photo by S B J
