@ Q59 - Fremont airport,Calif. Old runway 31L,31R was a nice dirt runway. This was also the starting point for many (15 years worth) of my flying adventures! They sure were good years to be in general aviation.Would not trade them for anything! - by S B J

@ Q59 - Fremont airport,Calif. soon after its 1986 closure.Due to the short closure notice and removal of planes and hangars, there were some angry owners. An X on a runway, I have seen to many in my time. View is east. - by S B J

@ Q59 - Fremont airport in the SF Bay Area when it was at its peak, was closed in May of 1986. Was a no frills grass roots airport that didnt even have runway lights, only relectors. They worked just fine but planes without lights, then it could be interesting. - by S B J

@ 0Q6 - Shingletown airport (closed 2002) in NE Calif. had an unusual slope to one end of the runway. It was flat then a sharp drop and then a slight decent. When landing you sometimes wondered where the ground was.To bad it was closed .View is South. - by S B J

@ 0Q6 - Shingletown airport in NE california, was closed around 2005.It was at 3800 ft and offered some relief when it was 110 in the central valley. Was a very nice airport. Mt Lassen (10,457 ft) is seen in the distance. - by S B J

@ O58 - Calistoga in Calif had 2 runways which one was for gliders only. Was a one way strip which caused some pilots trouble like a C140 on 2-5-74.There were lots of gliders and flying over town was prohibitived so pilots often made downwind takeoffs or landings. - by S B J

@ O58 - Calistoga Airpark in Calif. If not my favorite airport,it was near the top.So sad when it closed in 1998.A 5 min walk to the tourist busy-yes, but still neat town. What more could a pilot ask for! Notice all the vineyards. - by S B J

@ O01 - Santa Rosa Air Center was a well used airport by the warbird pilots,so with 7K feet of runway, not having enough runway was seldom an issue. Some large hangars were demolished by the time this picture was taken. - by S B J
