Transferred to 617 squadron in 1992, then based at RAF Marham. Coded AJ-C in tribute to Lancaster ED910/AJ-C – lost 17th May 1943 – the aircraft wears the name of the Lancaster’s pilot, Pilot Officer Warner Ottley DFC.

ZA399 rolled off the Warton production line in 1982 as one of 228 Tornado GR.1s built. delivered to 20 squadron at RAF Laarbruch, coded GA. In 1991 it was painted in desert pink with the name “Hello Kuwait Goodbye Iraq” as part of Operation Granby.
